بزرگ بی­مهرگان کفزی از پرکاربردترین موجودات در پایش زیستی رودخانه ­ها هستند. در این تحقیق 5 ایستگاه به نام‌های قبل از دریاچه سد لتیان، نجارکلا، افجه، برگ­ جهان و سعیدآباد در سال 1392 برای ارزیابی کیفیت آب پایین­دست رودخانه جاجرود بررسی شدند. نمونه ­برداری با دستگاه نمونه­ بردار سوربر با مساحت 900 سانتی‌مترمربع و اندازه توری 250 میکرون به­ صورت فصلی در هر ایستگاه انجام گرفت. شاخص‌های زیستی تک­ معیاره EPT، EPT/C، تنوع شانون وینر، غنای رده ­های زیستی، درصد خانواده غالب، هیلسنهوف، BMWP/ASPT، BBI، TBI، SIGNAL، MBI و چندمعیاره MMIF، IBI وNJIS  برای ارزیابی کیفیت آب استفاده شدند. در مجموع 5 راسته و 11 راسته شناسایی که حشرات آبزی با ۹۶/۸۷ درصد و خانواده­هایBaetidae  با ۴۱/۵۸ درصد و Chironomidae با 30 درصد بالاترین فراوانی نسبی را داشتند. نتایج اکثر شاخص‌های زیستی تک­معیاره و چندمعیاره، نشانگر وضعیت کیفیت پایین آب رودخانه بودند. به ­طوری­که مقادیر شاخص­های تنوع شانون-وینر (۰/۱۹=آلودگی بالا)، غنای رده­ های زیستی (۱/۳۳=خیلی ضعیف)، EPT (1=آب آلوده)، هیلسنهوف (۶/۷۷=ضعیف)، BMWP/ASPT (۲/۱۷=آلودگی شدید)، BBI (۱/۳۳=آلودگی بسیار بالا)، TBI (2=آلوده)، SIGNAL (۴/۴۱=آلودگی متوسط)، MBI (۷/۶۱=خیلی ضعیف)، MMIF (۰/۱۷=بد)، IBI (۱/۰۹=بسیار ضعیف) و NJIS (3=اختلال شدید) بالاترین مقادیر آلودگی را نشان دادند. می­توان نتیجه گرفت که پایین­دست رودخانه جاجرود نیازمند اعمال راهکارهای مدیریتی برای کاهش آلودگی­ها می­باشد.
