In recent years, the administration of medicinal herbs as growth and innate immune stimulator has been increasing in fish. In this study, the effect of peppermint powder on GH and IGF gene expression and hematology was studied In Caspian roach (Rutilus caspicus). Fish fed diets containing 0 (control), 2, 3 and 4 g/kg for 8 weeks. At the end of the experiment, blood sampling was done and liver and brain tissues were dissected in a sterile condition. Results indicated that peppermint powder upregulated GH and IGF expression and there were significant differences among treatmentss and control group (P˂0.05). The results of hematology assay showed that there were remarkable differences in Hct, Hb, RBC and WBC in fish fed diet containing power peppermint and control (P˂0.05). In conclusion, the administration of powder peppermint increased the growth and innate immune parameters of Caspian roach.
