Marine biofouling is an important harmful phenomenon in the marine environment and has caused serious problems for marine industries around the world. There are many studies on biofouling problems today, the most important of which is the identification of natural antifouling compounds. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of different concentrations of methanol, ethyl acetate, n-hexane, and aqueous extracts of henna (Lawsonia inermis) on the inhibition of Chaetoceros muelleri with three replications in the laboratory of Hormozgan University. The number of algae was counted by a neobar slide after 24 hours under a light microscope. Data analysis was performed using SAS software as a completely randomized experiment and data were compared by Duncan's multiple range test at 5% probability level. The results of growth changes showed that with the application of treatments, the growth of this alga was significantly inhibited. The results showed that ethyl acetate, methanolic and aqueous extracts with a concentration of (10 mg ml-1) and aqueous extracts with a concentration of (160 mg ml-1) had the most inhibitory effect on the viability of Chaetoceros muelleri, respectively. In general, the results showed that due to the appropriate antifouling activity of henna ethyl acetate extract, its use as a potential alternative to antifouling dyes can be suggested.
