Guppy, a member of the family Poecilidae is one of the most important economic fish species in the world. In this experimental study, a total number of 300 larvae of guppy was purchased from an ornamental fish hatchery. The fish were adapted to laboratory conditions, and then were assigned into five treatments in three replicates kept in 15 aquariums. Fish were fed with 0 (basal diet), 5, 10, 15 and 20 percent faba bean flour (Vicia faba L) per kg of diet over a period of six months . The highest viviparity was in control group (P < 0.05) with no significant differences among other treatments. However, the number of larvae was reduced with increasing percentage of faba bean in diet (P > 0.05). The highest mortality was recorded in treatment with diet containing 20% faba bean flour (P < 0.05). The mortality was reduced with decreasing percentage of faba bean in diet, so that no mortality was observed in the control group (P < 0.05). According to these results, adding faba bean flour to diet did not improve the reproductive performance of guppies. Moreover, it reduced the number of larvae per parity and significantly increased mortality. Therefore, supplementation of faba bean flour is not recommended to the diet of guppy.
