Abstract:   (3086 Views)
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the mercury concentration of pike muscle and its potential consumption risk. Daily, weekly, and monthly maximum allowable consumption were calculated for children and adults. The average mercury concentration was lower than National Iranian Standards Organization and international organizations. The HQ index results indicated no potential threat to consumers. In addition, the absence of health risk for the species itself was confirmed. However, due to the carnivorous feeding habit of this species and the bio-accumulation of mercury, continuous monitoring should be carried out to ensure the health of the species and humans.
